Every aspect of the EKO Acropolis Rally 2021 was revealed in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports, Mr. Lefteris Avgenakis, and the supporters of the event!
With 77 days to go until the start of the Acropolis Rally as part of the FIA World Rally Championship, the Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports, Mr. Lefteris Avgenakis, welcomed to the “Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center”, all those who believed and chose to support its return to the pinnacle of rallying.
During his speech, Mr. Avgenakis analyzed all that precedes the inclusion of the rally in the WRC calendar for 2021, but also emphasized on the results of the Ministry’s plan regarding the return of the country to international sporting events, which would be impossible to implement without the sponsorships of leading companies from important professional sectors.
Among them, EKO, part of the ELPE Group, which, having associated its name with the Acropolis Rally for a decade, sealed its ties with iconic rally, which for 2021-2022 will be officially named “EKO Acropolis Rally”. Mr. Andreas Shiamishis, CEO of ELPE Group and President and CEO of EKO SA, pointed out in his statements that EKO always believed in the return of the event to the World Rally.
EKO Acropolis Rally proceeded with similar duration collaborations with companies that hold a leading position in their field of operation. Among them is COSMOTE, which especially for this year’s version of the rally, will support one of its most impressive projects: «COSMOTE 5G Athens Stage». As suggested by the name, it is a special stage taking place in the center of the capital, with approximately 1 km of length. This stage is scheduled right after the Ceremonial Start, which will take place under the Acropolis and it will move the “heart” of the rally to some of the most central streets of Athens, culminating with the World Rally Cars racing around Syntagma Square!
As part of the presentation of EKO Acropolis Rally, its new logo was also unveiled. It was designed with timelessness in mind. Compact and at the same time dynamic, it derives from a combination of the letters «A» και «R» of the Latin alphabet, which of course are the initials of the rally!
The event was honored by the presence of the Minister of Finance Mr. Christos Staikouras, the Deputy Minister of Civil Protection, Mr. Eleftherios Oikonomou, representatives of the local government, as well as executives of the EKO Acropolis Rally sponsors, who are the biggest “allies” of the event. Among them is Toyota Hellas, which for many years, holds a leading position in terms of sales and after sales in the Greek market, Kotsovolos, one of the leading electrical and electronics retailers in Greece, Chipita with the brand 7DAYS, Nea Odos and Kentriki Odos, ANEK Lines and Superfast Ferries, as well as the Medical Center of Athens.
