Acropolis Rally 2021 «takes shape»
Greece is ready to be once again the epicenter of global motorsport.
The Acropolis Rally returns after an eight-year absence and having adapted to the present era requirements, it will once again bring Greece among the protagonists of the World Rally Championship. From 9 to 12 of September, competitors, teams, media representatives and spectators will experience an iconic rally, that in order to return to FIA’s calendar, it was designed based on the characteristics that have made it one of the greatest of its kind: demanding, with a rally route of almost 300 kilometers, tough, with special stages that are famous for their difficulty, ready to «export» to the world unique images of Greece. And with a route that starts from the center of Athens, moving to the Peloponnese and then to Central Greece.
Even in the midst of the limitations that Covid-19 pandemic brings, the organization of the Acropolis Rally managed to keep the character of the rally intact. The ninth round of the World Championship will start under the Sacred Rock of Athens, with the modern rally cars passing under the most recognizable monument of the country.
The next three days, the crews will initially move south, to the Peloponnese and especially to the WRC-awarded special stage “Aghii Theodoroi” and special stage “Loutraki”, that will once again bring the homonymous city to the foreground. The special stages “Thiva” and “Elatia” will follow, while the next two days will solely be a Central Greece “affair”. Lamia will be the host city, while the itinerary will include stages that are synonymous to this rally, such as “Pavliani”, “Bauxites”, “Eleftherohori” and for the first time in the modern era of the Acropolis Rally, “Tarzan”!
Rally Guide 1 has been posted on the official website, www.acropolisrally.gr, that will from now on, be constantly enriched with relevant news and with all the necessary information for competitors, media but also spectators.
