Finland’s Juuso Nordgren was 0,021 sec. faster that Alexey Lukyanuk on the Qualifying Stage that opened the 2018 EKO Acropolis Rally, round 3 of the European Rally Championship.

The promising 21-year old driver started his ERC career in style, proving his speed first time out. Toping the Qualifying Stage gave him the opportunity to be the first to choose his starting position for tomorrow’s stages - and his selection was place 12. After him, Lukyanuk chose place 15.

In other news, Greek 2016 champion Giorgos Filippidis withdraw from the Rally before the start of the QS for personal reasons, while Russia’s Artur Muradian flipped his Peugeot 208 R2 in the stage but returned to the Service Park with nothing but minor damage.

test2 (1)Paulo Nobre and Efthimios Halkias hit the mountains north of Lamia three days before the start of the EKO Acropolis Rally 2018 to test their R5 cars for the upcoming EKO Acropolis Rally 2018.

The Brazilian driver returns to Greece after six years, while the Greek tried to familiarize himself with the Skoda Fabia R5 for his first rally with a contemporary top car. Halkias stressed that his only target is to enjoy it, both himself and the spectators.

Νο14: NOBRE Paulo - MORALES Gabriel

I have been to the Acropolis Rally again in 2010 and 2012 and I remember that it is a very hard rally with several stones, with a lot of turns and quite difficult. Pacenotes in each rally are important, but here they are absolutely critical, because every turn can lead you to retirement. It is a rally that distinguishes children from men. Our goal is to get to the finish as quickly as possible. I would like to win but we have to be realistic. We have just made two races with an R5 car in the gravel and the other combinations at the top are much more experienced”.
